For my informative application, I've done a  few links...this would be the main page:

and these is for the collection page...bt the description i haven't put the real one...i just did the layout and fuction the links 1st. Need to summarize all the description and explanation b4 added in. But basically this will be the layout.

heyy im back for now...next week will be our week 5 ALREADYY!! :P

btw i'll make some changes for my main kebaya screen which that day I propose to make an animation on the kebaya like the flower rotate and all...i did try bt the result is a bit awfull looking...i tried couple of movement, bt doesn't look appealling to me...i decided to change to these...i'll upload the picture below so that u guys can see the result...bt it will just be the same for all...and i will add some of the information for the informative application...it will have 2 more extra link which it will be the main part in nyonya kebaya - they have 3 main spot which i will explain it later....and the 4th link will be the women of style: completing the Nyonya Look - there will be 2 link inside which will be nyonya jewellery and the slippers and shoes...The add together with the new side map for the informative application:

These is my progress that i've done in flash for the main screen...i'll upload only 3 design only for the main timing...bt for now there's no sound...i couldn't fine any suitable song for those nyonya theme...i try to figure out for this matter....:

The history of Kebaya Nyonya

The development of Baba Nyonya culture was a gradual process of selective absorption and adaptation of outside cultural elements, while maintaining a Chinese core. The criteria and motivation for selecting these outside elements was linked to other developments within the Baba Nyonya culture and place it occupied within the hegemonic Malay culture. The Nyonya started wearing the kebaya at a time when both the Baba Nyonya community and the world around them were changing.

            Although the kebaya in general has been around for well over a century, the Nyonya kebaya first appeared in Baba Nyonya culture only at beginning of the twentieth century. The earliest photos showing Nyonyas wearing kebaya date to the 1920s. Ironically, while the kebaya’s emergence as Nyonya attire coincided with the renaissance of Baba Nyonya culture during the period of British rule in the Straits, its flowering as a distinctive form of Nyonya attire occurred during the culture’s decline.

Kebaya's

OK this is the balance up design that i will add in. I have problem with finding the specifeic kebaya for the one  that have design like dragon, musical instrument, japanese theme and so fort. I went to many places that they dont have that kind of design. But I have the collection in books where i will put in the information web as the reference for all. But there will only these design that will appear randomly in the screen. And now im in progress to do the animation which will have 2 elements moving. But i'll update soon if once i've done later.

This is few sample of kebaya that i'll be using for the main screen. For every kebaya will be 2 elements animate for movement. Some of it rotate and zoom in zoom out and so on. The will also be background music for each kebaya to make it more lively with all the elements that have in it.

For the infromation web also will have the same design and explanation about the meanings for each of it. The other half will be uploaded soon....

Sketches Studies

• This is only few motif studies and sketches that i've uploaded. Basically this is the elements that have in every specific design.

• This is the design for the main kebaya that will be appear randomly on the main screen. And the explanation will be on the information web. for the users to read and browse thru.

• Main - This is where the installation will be start. As the user came in and step on the box.
• Kebaya - And the kebaya will automatically random appear on the screen as the user steps on teh space.
• The categories - As being said that it is random chosen, so the collection will be as follows. There will be 6 categories and they are not the same type. For the one that used to wear will be 3 collection shown and some of it there will only have 1 collection shown.

This is for the infomation kiosk beside the screen. The purpose is to give users extra knowledge and information regarding this specific costume.

• Main - this is information web. where the user can go through by themselve and read.
• Introduction - where there's a link for the introduction and background from the costume history.
• Collection + explanation - And for the 2nd link is where every details and explanation about the specific design is all about. This is all based on the design on the main screen that appear randomly. The collection will be the same as the information on this web.

TITLE: The beauty of Nyonya Kebaya

CASE STUDY: Nyonya Kebaya

FOCUS: To explore the Nyonya Kebaya more detail and the history behind that.

AREA: This is to give viewers a bit of the background and insight into the culture that produced among others, the Nyonya Kebaya. And this is by exploring one of the Malaysia’s rich cultural heritage.

SUMMARY:

As we know that Nyonya Kebaya has become one of the Malaysia’s rich cultural heritage in our country. From this topic, I hope that they will be able to understand how Nyonya Kebaya is brought to Malaysia. This will help them to comprehend how Nyonya Kebaya is known as one of the symbol that shows unity in our culture by the part of Nyonya Kebaya such as sarong and motifs.

IDEA & CONCEPT: To create an installation application that can interact with the user to experience the the beauty of Nyonya Kebaya from the design that have in each specific kebaya. The purpose of this installation is just for entertainment and extra knowlegde for the side website purposes.

Progression Timeline

This is my planning for my final project. It will consist of 8 weeks thru out this semester.

- For the 1st one is where I will complete all the content and gather the information together. For the information that will show in my work. This will based on the web information for the small info kiosk. This will be done in week 1-2.

- For the 2nd one is to create a blog where all the progress will be uploaded. This will be done in week 1-2.

- The 3rd one is where i need to take a photo for all the design of kebaya's that will be shown. There will be less than 15 different design and categories. This will take a bit time because i need to go to the gallery where the kebaya been display and need to make appointment with one of the nyonya's that have shop in KL. This will be done in week 2-3.

- The 4th one is to illustrate the design as I mention my installation will be a user enter the space, the kebaya will randomly show in the screen and as the user move, the shadow will trigger and actomatically the flower, birds, guitar, umbrella or any kind of image will move. Some of them will come up with sound or movement. For movement it need to illustrate one by one to make it move. But for the kebaya will be static. This will be done in week 3-6.

- The 5th one is to create the web information for the info kiosk. It will show details and explanation about the specific kebaya that been display in the main screen. This will be less than 15 design. And there will also be a short history of nyonya kebaya inside. This is for the user's extra information for the costume. This will be done in week 4-6.

- The 6th one is to add the movement and sound for the design for the main screen where some of it will just rotate and petals falls one by one. Some of it will only have sounds like dragon, guitar an so on. For this time also will be setting up the motion trigger and all that requires the coding. This will be done in week 6-7.

- The 7th is where i will set up the booth according to what i've did for the prototype. This will be done in week 7.

Introduction

Heyy im Laini Norellya bte Md Noordin 1051103699. Im currently in Delta Year now. I'll be doing my final project for this semester. My Installation title is 'The Beauty of Nyonya Kebaya'. This project is actually to show the beauty of the embroidery and the meanings of the motif that usually be used by them. At the same time, it give the viewers a bit of the the background and insight into the culture that produced among others, the Nyonya Kebaya. And this is by exploring the Malaysia's rich cultural heritages.

The installation:

- There will be a booth for the installation. As the user came in, they will stand on the step and automatically the kebaya will appear on the screen. The kebaya will randomly shown on the screen provided. As the user move the shadow will trigger the movement and there will be elements on the kebaya for example like the flower will move rotate, butterfly will fly within the costume itself and will be back on the actual possition. Some of it only have sounds like guitar, dragon, background like Japanese theme - will have instrumental music for that and any kind of other example except for flowers. But for every costume will have maximum 3 items move + sounds. And as the user step out from the step, the screen will automatically change to the main screen design. The user's can go to the info kiosk beside it to read about the history and meanings behind all the design that been showed on the screen just now. That is all about my installation will be. :)

There will be the same idea and there's no changes for the moment.
